Job Title: Associate Director of Marketing and Communications

Reports to: Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications
Summary:
The Associate Director of Marketing and Communications will help design and execute the school’s marketing and communication strategies to support the King School’s goals. The primary focus of the person in this role is the creation of multimedia content that effectively supports enrollment, retention, community engagement, and fundraising efforts. The person in this position will also be responsible for proofreading and editing all the official communications from the school.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Content Creation
- Partner with the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications as well as other content stakeholders to support overall school strategy, branding initiatives, enrollment, retention, and development for King School.
- Develop and execute the annual content strategy to support the King School’s goals in a timely and compelling manner.
- Implementation:
- Proactively develop and manage the day-to-day execution of multimedia content creation for the school’s publications, admission collaterals, alumni magazine, website, and social media channels.
- Copyedit and proofread all of the school’s official communications.
- Partner with the Director of Marketing on ideation and content creation to support communication in digital and print advertising.
- Partner with other stakeholders who are generating content, and support the Marketing and Communications Office's efforts to educate our community on our brand messages. Provide guidance on copy, design, and photo assets as needed.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with third-party partners such as videographers, designers, printers, and consultants.
- Reporting: Leverage performance data, as available, to make data-based decisions on content strategy.
Content & Channel Management
- Videography:
- Produce, shoot and edit short and simple video clips that capture the day-to-day life at King.
- Coordinate professional videography for the school’s major events such as Commencement and State of the School, as needed.
- Photography: Serve as principal photographer for marketing photography. Plan and execute photography to support communication that’s on message and can be used across marketing channels, including our website, advertising, social media, and publications/collateral. Coordinate with the Director of Marketing on photo coverage needs.
- Archive photographs.
- Coordinate family photography for Commencement and Moving-Up ceremonies, working with external vendor(s).
- Social media: Manage content strategy, creation, and execution for King School’s primary Facebook and Instagram accounts. Partner with PA to support their management of the PA Facebook page.
- School Publications: Oversee, develop and execute content and design for all school publications.
- Quest Magazine: Support the content strategy and execution and serve as project manager for the annual publication of Quest Magazine, the school’s alumni magazine. Manage third-party designers and printers.
- Public Relations: Prepare press releases and pitch stories to local media partners in support of marketing strategy. Provide stories for sponsored content opportunities with Patch.com and other media partners. Track results monthly of PR efforts.
Other
- Additional duties as needed, as assigned by the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communication or the school administration.
- Occasional ability to work during evening and weekend hours for various events and programs throughout the year.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field.
- Must possess strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to constructively collaborate with colleagues.
- Capacity to work in culturally responsive professional practices that incorporate diverse and multiple perspectives from all constituents, including colleagues, trustees, families, students, and vendors.
