Job Description: This position is a 25hr./ week position working full days (in person), Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The counselor will work in partnership with the full-time counselor in building relationships with, and supporting, students, families, faculty, and staff. This position will primarily be dedicated to in-classroom Social Emotional Education in grades K-8, but will also work with students and their families individually and in groups in the counseling office.

The Boulder Country Day Part-Time School Counselor will work with members across divisions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop, schedule, and lead consistent and ongoing in-classroom lessons and activities for grades K-8 that address the following areas: interpersonal skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, inclusivity, stress management, effective communication, mindfulness, and other relevant skill building.
- Write a summary following lessons to share with families to encourage conversation and practice at home.
- Provide both scheduled and impromptu counseling sessions for individuals or small groups of students.
- Collaborate with families in the support of their children. Offer recommendations, referrals, and resources.
- Collaborate with students’ teachers and outside therapists, counselors, and support people to ensure consistency of care.
- Attend grade level Student Support Team meetings, weekly Wednesday afternoon faculty meetings, monthly late start Wednesday meetings, and in-service trainings.
- Organize and facilitate psychoeducational groups in addition to teaching ongoing SEL in Elementary school and Middle school advisory.
- Integrate a DEI-informed perspective into all interactions with students, guardians, and teachers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to, carline duty and occasional evening events.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
- LCSW/ LPC licensed in the state of Colorado
- Experience with counseling in an educational setting with ES and MS aged students.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Training and experience conducting risk assessments, crisis intervention, and interventions specific to anxiety, emotional regulation, and stress management.
- Training and experience with professional mandates and procedures.
- Training, experience, and commitment to Anti-bias/ Anti-racist pedagogy.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills.
- Ability and desire to lead educational opportunities for students, families, faculty, and staff.
