Commonwealth Academy is currently looking for a passionate individual who cares deeply about students and their success and sees the potential and greatness of each child to join its team for the 2022-2023 school year. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating and working with a diverse group of individuals with different abilities. This individual is also energized by the idea of running their own classroom in a small school setting. Planning, delivering, assessing, and communicating progress are essential skills that this candidate should possess. The candidate needs to be able to remain flexible on a day-to-day basis and enjoys the variability of each day.
Support Team Member Duties and Responsibilities
- Co-teach and reinforce lesson components as determined by the teacher, leading small-group or individual instruction and discussion, and reviewing classwork material
- Teach no more than two classes and be responsible for those expectations
- Serve as a guide in instructing students on proper classroom behavior
- Help teachers prepare for class by getting materials and equipment read
- Supervise students during lunch/break or recess, as well as in between classes or on field trips
- Assist students who need additional help learning a specific concept
- Substitute classes and deliver lessons based on provided sub plans
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, parents, and staff to enhance the instructional environment; participate in parent-teacher and faculty meetings and events as needed and appropriate

Support Team Member Qualifications
- At least two years’ worth of undergraduate coursework or an associate degree in education or paraprofessional education
- Required to have a first aid/CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in childhood development or education
- Teaching certification(s)
- Experience working with a diverse population of students including learning disabilities
