We ensure every student the opportunity and the means to achieve excellence and preparation for advanced education through purposeful academic and residential programs. Girard College seeks an experienced Math Specialist for Grades 1-8 for a position beginning school year 2022. As part of the Girard College school-wide Title I Program, the Math Specialist will work with all students and families by providing supplemental instructional services in mathematics that support greater academic success for students in Grades 1- 8. The Math Specialist reports to the Dean of the Elementary& Middle School and collaborates with other members of the Girard College community. Essential Expectations of Girard College Teachers Include but Are Not Limited to: Provide individualized math assessment and instruction to students in grades 1 through 8. This is accomplished by “pushing into” the classroom working with individual or small groups of students, or “pulling out” students who would benefit from individualized instruction Facilitate and maintain appropriate communication with students, families, academic and residential faculty with regard to student progress. Supervise inventory of resources materials, manipulatives, and other math materials Use testing data and other information to create a learning plan for each student. Review and monitor student targets and create educational support plans as necessary Assess and monitor student math growth through the creation of diagnostic tests and the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP). Have significant competency in integrating technology into instruction. Log all student meetings in an online database which includes date, time, and learning target(s) Participate in all school events. Participate in all professional development activities assigned by Girard College. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of the Elementary & Middle school Essential Mindsets: Collaborate with building leader, instructional coaches, grade level/department chairs and school team to continuously improve instructional, culture-building and leadership skills Participate enthusiastically in all professional development, instructional planning, teacher/residential collaborative team meetings, and data analysis meetings Function as a school wide partner in helping to raise student achievement and character for all students in the school. Reinforcing school-wide expectations and volunteering to take on additional actives as needed to improve school academics and culture. Strong instructional and classroom management skills. High level of personal organization and planning. Team player: maturity, humility, grit, flexible, follow-through, sense of humor, open to feedback and a “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude. Qualifications Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Math or Education, Masters preferred. PA Instructional Certification Required At least five years’ experience teaching math to elementary and middle school students Excellent time management skills Exceptional interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in leadership behaviors Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Chromebooks, and other appropriate classroom technological tools Proven ability to work collaboratively.
