Colorado Academy seeks a Middle School Counselor. This is a full-time position for the 2022-2023 school year, beginning in mid-August 2022.
The Middle School program provides a crucial bridge between our Lower and Upper School programs. Its foundation is a strong academic curriculum that is balanced by an extensive and challenging program in athletics, the arts, social skill development and community service. A child's Middle School experience is characterized by small classes, high standards, a faculty committed to the growth of every student within a thoughtful and caring community.
- Provide short term counseling and responsive services – prevention/education and crisis intervention
- Review, interpret, and summarize educational and psychological testing of students with learning disabilities and implement accommodation plans
- Manage student case load and providing referrals for students or families to outside professional support services when needed, as well as maintaining communication between the school, the student’s parents and the outside professional resource
- Provide consultation and collaboration with families, teachers, counselors, division principal, and the head of school for students who are at risk or in need
- Coordinate and manage human development and health related educational programming
- Respond to crisis situations on an as-needed basis
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or higher in Mental Health or School Counseling
- Certification or professional license preferred
- Experience working with middle school students and their families. An understanding of and appreciation for where students are developmentally throughout their secondary school experience
- Candidates should have curriculum development experience, manage confidential information well, and enjoy collaborating with teachers and administrators.

Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated intercultural competence: the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives, identities, and lived experiences is a must. Additionally, candidates will be expected to share in the day-to-day life of the school community.

The pay range for the position is $70,000 - $85,000. Although $70,000 - $85,000 is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
