The school offers a coed program for young children at the Barat Center for Early Childhood Education and then an all-girls experience from K-12 on our 110-acre campus in Greenwich, Connecticut. We are proudly part of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools. We are currently seeking an Assistant Upper School Academic Dean for 2022-2023 school year.
Position: Assistant Upper School Academic Dean
Reports to: Head of Upper School
FLSA Status: Exempt
Essential Responsibilities/Capabilities:

Assist the Upper School Academic Dean in monitoring each individual student's academic program in light of her abilities, interests, program requirements and special needs as assigned.

Under the direction if the Upper School Academic Dean, will communicate with students, parents, advisor, learning specialist (as appropriate), Deans and US Head on all issues related to academic performance. Collaborate with US Head, Deans, Learning Specialist, School Nurse, and School Psychologist to share information on social, emotional, psychological, health and learning issues and communicate academic implications to faculty.

Meet with students, parents, faculty as needed about academic concerns, and develop follow-up plans as necessary.

Monitor emails from parents about upcoming student absences, issues, concerns, academic progress and pass along to faculty.

Work with students who are absent for extended periods of time due to illness to determine accommodations as necessary and to coordinate makeup work.

Work with faculty on recurring issues in their classrooms, and with Department Chairs on academic issues specific to each department.

Collaborate with US Academic Dean, US Head and Dean of Students on issues of academic dishonesty and other infractions.

Assist in the review of faculty comments during report card process and proof report cards.

Assist in resolving individual scheduling conflicts during the scheduling process and facilitate schedule changes in OnCampus during the Drop/Add period.

Work with Upper School Dean of Student Information Systems/Registrar to make grade changes and to request transcripts as needed.

Provide recommendations for summer programs and for students applying to other schools. Make presentations (ex. present the academic program at US Open House and other admission events; present the course registration process at Step-Up events).

Work with US Academic Dean, Deans, and Department Chairs to update and review Curriculum Guide, Upper School handbook, Prize Day and Graduation programs.

Meet new student applicants on their visiting days, serve on Admission Committee, interview prospective faculty hires, serve on US Key Group.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following:

Bachelor’s degree in education, master’s preferred

Experience in teaching and administration in schools;

Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communication.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents faculty and other student support services
-
Patience and problem solving approach when addressing issues.

Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and embrace change with flexibility.

Highly organized with the ability to constantly multitask.

Strong listening and communicating skills.

Ability to effectively utilize standards and student performance to individualize the student experience.
