A Forsyth Country Day School Preschool Lead Teacher is passionate about supporting the children and teachers of the Preschool as they live out our mission of preparing our children for what’s ahead. The Preschool Lead Teacher will be responsible for fostering growth in all domains of development: Social/Emotional, Language/Literacy, Math/Logical Reasoning, Physical (fine and gross motor), and Adaptive Skills. The Preschool Lead Teacher should consistently uphold the school’s policies, mission, and core values.
The Preschool Lead Teacher position is a 12 month full-time position, M-F 7:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m, and reports to the Director and Assistant Director of Preschool. FCDS prefers an early childhood education degree (minimum Bachelor's degree) and experience directing a preschool classroom.
Primary responsibilities:
- Model and instill a love of learning
- Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth
- Observe, evaluate, and monitor student performance in all areas of development: Social Emotional, Language and Literacy, Logical Mathematical, and Physical
- Design and implement appropriate instruction in line with the school standards, curriculum, and student needs
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport
- Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies
Qualifications :
- a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
- at least three years of teaching in an early childhood environment
- excellent understanding of the social, emotional, and academic needs of preschool age children and how to provide for them
- the ability to differentiate a rich, varied, and developmentally appropriate curriculum based on best practices and current research
- a commitment to work collaboratively and innovatively with colleagues
- ability to communicate respectfully, proactively, and honestly both verbally and in writing with parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding curriculum, students, and child development issues
