Alcuin School sits on a beautifully scenic 12-acre campus in North Dallas, Texas. The school has grown to accommodate nearly 600 students and supports both Montessori and International Baccalaureate programs. Over the past 12 years, the physical campus has grown significantly, with construction of many new facilities including an Upper School Building, a World Languages and Fine Arts building, and an Innovation Studio. The school aspires to provide the ideal environment for students to live, learn and play.
The Upper School Physics Teacher implements and delivers curriculum based on the IB philosophy and helps direct students’ activities to reach his or her fullest potential, in Physics as well as in the community as a whole. Courses include MYP and DP Physics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implements all curricula within the designated subject area(s) following IB guidelines.
- Keeps records of all parent communications and shares them with Upper School Head.
- Maintains updated records of each student’s progress on a timely basis.
- Maintains the designated classroom.
- If asked, facilitates a student advisory group through one-on-one meetings and team building activities.
- If asked, accompanies students on overnight trips.
- Prepares and submits required reports, including conference reports, lesson plans, and ongoing unit plans and modifications.
- Plans, prepares and conducts conferences with parents as one of the team.
- Works cooperatively with other members of the Upper School faculty in the planning and execution of interdisciplinary projects, community events, and other Upper School activities.
- Attends parent education events and community functions as detailed in the Staff Handbook.
- Assists in ordering and keeping an inventory of needed equipment and supplies.
- Maintains a consistent attitude of loyalty to and enthusiasm for the school and its policies.
- Completes state-mandated bus driver training.
