Job Description
Westover School is seeking applicants for a part-time position as a Dorm Faculty member. This is a part-time position, but may be combined with other part-time openings to create a full-time position. This position will include health benefits. The ideal candidate possesses or is working to complete an Associates or advanced degree.
Dorm Faculty live in the dorm with students and are committed to providing the care, support, and supervision that create an inclusive and welcoming living environment conducive to the social, personal, and intellectual development of young women. Dorm Faculty are an essential support role in the holistic wellness of boarding students. And as such, Dorm Faculty must bring a passion for empowering a globally diverse population of young people.
Dorm faculty are on duty as follows: three nights a week plus a full weekend off, one full weekend on, and one Sunday on over a three week rotation. They are also required to attend Tuesday night Community Dinners.
Duty includes, but is not limited to:

Being visible and available to students when on duty

Being aware of student whereabouts on campus

Hosting weekly corridor meetings

Implementation and adaptation of new Residential Life Curriculum

Providing nightly snack
-
Maintaining a corridor budget
-
Holding students to all existing corridor and Covid-19 policies

Attending Bi-Weekly Dorm Faculty Meetings

Proctoring in-room Proctored Study
-
Nightly check ins, lights out check, and good nights for each boarding resident

Serve as Lead Dorm Faculty one night per week and during weekend duty time
Qualifications
-
An ideal candidate would have a Residential Life background or experience as a Resident Advisor in college; social work, psychology or related background

Experience working with high school aged girls.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.

Knowledge of mental health conditions and ability to engage in emergency and crisis situations.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff.

Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evening, weekend and "on call" assignments.

Have and seek professional development in intercultural awareness and culturally-responsive practices

Demonstrate they are lifelong learners in their field

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Preferred Skills

Knowledge of Mandarin language a plus, but not required

Understanding of restorative practices and communication

Background or experience with conflict resolution
