Thayer Academy seeks a full time Human Resources Director. Reporting to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer, the Human Resources Director is responsible for designing and implementing strategy, oversight and day-to-day management to ensure that Thayer’s mission is upheld in its culture, practices and people. This role has oversight over talent management, employee relations, compensation, benefits, federal and state law compliance, policy and procedure development and advising leadership and employees on a full range of human resource matters.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Supports the mission and culture of Thayer by contributing to the development and strengthening of a diverse, inclusive, positive and supportive learning community.
- Serves as a leader on campus by developing strong relationships with senior leadership as well as faculty and staff at all organizational levels throughout the campus community.
- Supports the full-cycle of talent management functions from development of job descriptions, recruitment process/candidate experience, selection and offer and onboarding of new hires.
- Manages and participates in all hiring and termination processes.
- Establishes and implements a process to review hiring and retention with a focus on maintaining a diverse workforce.
- Develops and maintains an onboarding process in cooperation with key departments across campus to ensure a smooth transition for all new hires.
- Designs and implements a school-wide performance management process in partnership with senior administrators and other key stakeholders.
- Writes, reviews, implements and maintains personnel policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal law, as well as industry best practices.
- Works with managers and employees to resolve employee relations matters, investigates issues of potential misconduct, policy violations or other disciplinary matters and makes recommendations to leadership.
- Serves on committees, work groups and advisory boards as necessary.
- Provides oversight and supervision to the Benefits Administrator.
- Performs other human resource related functions as needed.
