Stone Ridge is seeking a Part-Time Long-Term Lower School Physical Education Sub to begin work in August 2022 through June 2023.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. The PE Teacher is responsible for:
- Assist with the development and implementation of Physical Education curriculum for designated elementary grade levels with a primary focus on physical movement, physical literacy, play, and teamwork. Implementation of curricular should include plans, outline, and objectives for each class as necessary or required.
- Perform all duties associated with teaching Physical Education classes, including but not limited to: maintaining attendance and behavioral records; maintaining shared Physical Education spaces and equipment; communicating in a timely manner with parents and Divisions in regard to student progress in the form of emails, phone calls, meetings, progress reports, report cards, and conferences, etc.
- Meet with counselors, tutors, specialists or school departments or Division Heads as required to best prepare and meet the needs of students.
- Attend all professional meetings and professional development opportunities as required
- Monitor professional growth and continuing education; participate in the Faculty Evaluation and Growth process; attend all professional meetings and professional development and Mission training opportunities as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Athletic Department to plan, organize, and execute special events, including but not limited to: Field Day, Blue/Gold Events, Gator Game Days, Swamp Shines Events, Senior Days, Athletics Banquets,, Admissions Events, and Department and League Meetings etc.
- Any additional duties, as assigned, by the Athletic Director.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, master’s degree preferred
- Experience working with children in a school environment.
- Excellent written, interpersonal communication, organizational, and follow-through skills
- Advanced proficiency and comfortability with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Gmail, with the ability to learn various School specific software.
- Ability to work independently, to work in a team atmosphere, and to work in a cooperative manner with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- Ability to communicate effectively with clear verbal and written messages, especially via email.
This opening is a part-time long term sub position for the academic year running from mid-August to mid-June. The schedule will be dependent on the Lower School Physical Education class schedule and other school commitments, with Physical Education classes typically taking place during the morning hours.
