Stone Ridge is seeking a Lower School Science Specialist to begin August 17, 2022.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. The Lower School Science Specialist will lead the integration of the Next Generation Science Standards into the Lower School (Pre-Kindergarten-Grade Four) curriculum and will collaborate with an interdivisional team to align the PK-12 Science curriculum. Working closely with colleagues, the Lower School Science Specialist teaches and co-teaches science units using an inquiry, experiential approach, and develops, coordinates, and provides peer education to support teachers as they integrate science into other curricular areas. The chosen candidate will maintain the Lower School Science resources and coach teachers in implementing pre- and post-lab lessons. In addition, the Lower School Science Teacher will actively collaborate with Learning Strategists and Educational Technologists to develop strategies to support all students and will attend all faculty and employee meetings, participate in Professional Learning Communities within the Stone Ridge community, and fulfill other faculty duties as assigned.
Requirements and qualifications:
- experience in independent and/or Catholic school
- an advanced degree in a related field
- experience working with students across the Lower School program
- creativity and an innovative spirit in designing hands-on, project-based experiences for students
- a desire to inspire curiosity, intellectual risk-taking, and use of scientific knowledge toward serving the greater good
- strong writing and communication skills and a capacity for organization, follow-through, and flexibility.
Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience.
