The Agnes Irwin School is an All-Girls College Preparatory Day School for Grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12 with enrollment of approximately 600 students and is accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools. The school is located on 18 acres in Rosemont, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The Agnes Irwin School supports nearly 200 employees across six distinct administrative divisions and three academic divisions. The Agnes Irwin provides girls with a deep foundation in the humanities, mathematics and science, wellness, and athletics.
The Agnes Irwin School is seeking a Controller to provide management and oversight of the School's accounting functions as well as administration of the School's payroll and benefit plans.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage and maintain the General ledger and reconcile all its various income, expense, restricted, and unrestricted accounts according to GAAP
- Develop and implement systems and processes to establish and maintain the financial records of the School according to GAAP
- Supervise and provide support in the hiring and training of accounts payable, accounts receivable, business office staff and school store personnel
- Reconcile monthly bank statements and monies from current student accounts to include: cash tuition and fees payments, case and on-line enrollment application fees, and miscellaneous cash receipts; Development Office receipts to include: cash and credit card contributions, on-line contributions, and payroll deduction contributions; AIS Store receipts to include: cash and checks, in-store credit card payments, on-line credit card payments; and all payroll transfers, wires, ACH transfers
- Prepare all end of month and annual general ledger
- Prepare annual financial close for independent financial audit report
- Prepare financial reports for provide data as required by all federal, state, and local municipal regulatory agencies and educational/accrediting associations
- Prepare reconciliation, filing, and payment of quarterly PA sales tax and Radnor Local Services Tax
- Prepare and transmit monthly and weekly payroll
- Prepare, submit, and maintain retirement contributions and documents to TIAA-CREF
- Oversee the 403(b) compliance testing processes as well as the annual 403(b) audit
- Review and approve monthly health, life, and LTD insurance invoices
Successful candidates will possess:
- B.S. in accounting, finance, business administration or related discipline plus minimum of five years of experience with financial reporting, business analysis, internal control monitoring, financial systems, internal control monitoring, financial systems integrations, and budgeting/forecasting required
- CPA highly desired
- Experience in education or non-profit sector highly desirable
- Previous managerial experience highly desirable
- Ability to work as a team leader and as a contributing team member in an educational environment
- Strong interpersonal skills to include being cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented and able to manage students in a courteous and effective manner
- Proficiency with use of computer technology, office and audiovisual equipment as they pertain to the essential functions of this position
- Ability to organize and manage a multi-task environment to safely and effectively accomplish program goals.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks with minimal supervision, and work in an environment subject to interruptions
- Outstanding communication skills to include the ability to use clear, concise, and grammatically correct written and verbal language in all aspects of professional interaction with students, parents, peers, administration, and the general public
