Rochambeau, The French International School (“Rochambeau”), located in Bethesda, MD is an independent and coeducational day school, offering a unique combination of the French curriculum and a high-quality English program, to approximately 1,100 students from Preschool (2-years old) through 12th grade. THE POSITION
Rochambeau is currently seeking a dedicated, motivated, and compassionate School Nurse to provide school nursing services to approximately 500 students at our Forest Road campus during a 4-month maternity leave period starting on or about October 1, 2022, Monday - Friday 8 AM – 4:30 PM.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Depending on the assignment these duties may require in-person attendance and/or virtual attendance based on the specific operational or instructional requirements.
- Administers OTC medications as needed per school policy and prescription medications or specialized nursing care procedures under physician’s orders.
- Administers medications and treatments as ordered.
- Provides care for student and staff illness and accidents.
- Administers care based on individual health care plans and individual emergency care plans.
- Serves as liaison between the home and the school regarding student health concerns.
- Prepares and maintains student immunization records and documents all encounters in school’s electronic health record.
- Supervise and evaluate tasks appropriate for delegation to a CNA/CMT and document delegation and supervision following all applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist with maintaining ongoing health and safety of the school through duration of COVID-19-related restrictions and modifications, including daily monitoring of student/staff health, maintaining communication with Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) following metrics/recommendations related to COVID-19.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field preferred.
- Hold current State of Maryland license as a Registered Nurse.
- 2 years’ experience in any of the following settings preferred: School nursing, pediatrics, community, or public health nursing preferred.
- Knowledge of current practices for common childhood illnesses and chronic diseases: Asthma management and inhaler/, diabetes, insulin pen and pumps, seizure management, severe allergy management and emergency medication administration (EpiPen, etc.).
- Hold current certification in CPR/First Aid.
- Bilingual in French desired.
- Patient oriented and must be able to collaborate with a team
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail and maintains confidentiality
SPECIAL NOTES
