Responsible for teaching varying levels of Middle and High School visual arts courses, including the fundamentals of visual art (Art 1: Ways of Seeing course), visual art history (Historical Artifacts of World Cultures course), and/or the 2D/3D Visual Art Certificate Studio advanced levels I, II, or III courses. Supporting students in the MPSA Certificate program with personalized, professional feedback in the construction of an artist’s portfolio and exhibiting artwork in a gallery, as well as in online formats, is an expectation. At Mid-Pacific, faculty are responsible for designing an instructional environment that encourages inquiry-driven learning practices, motivating students to develop technical and conceptual art skills, exemplifying ‘habits of an artist’ attitudes, and generating rich evidence of their experiences to prepare individuals for post-secondary education and/or career opportunities. Essential to this role is the ability to utilize all resources, establish and maintain strong, cooperative, and collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, and community members. This position includes active participation in the school's operation to support our unwavering commitment to the principles of deeper learning. This position reports to the High School Assistant Principal.
Minimum requirement: BFA (MFA preferred) in visual arts or related field from an accredited university or college. Minimum of three years related industry and/or academic experience required; currently working artists preferred, with technical specialization in hands-on drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed-media, sculpture, and ceramics, and fundamental digital tools, a.k.a. digital illustration, photography, basic animation 2D/3D animation, etc. Prior teaching experience is required. Previous experience with the International Baccalaureate program, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Architecture or Yearbook design is highly desired.
