Associate Director of Athletics
As a teacher and a coach, this person will work as an integral member of the physical education and athletics department by supporting the school’s comprehensive pre-kindergarten through grade eight program. A qualified candidate will possess a joy for teaching and will promote a physically active and healthy lifestyle in elementary and middle school students’ lives. They will be an enthusiastic, dynamic, and vibrant member of the community who upholds the school’s values and shares a dedication to educating the whole child. This is a part-time, 20-hour per week, benefit eligible position that reports to the Director of Athletics.
Responsibilities:
- Teach physical education in grade five
- Coach a middle school athletic team all three seasons
- Work with Director of Athletics to administer athletics program
- Commit to fostering a diverse community in and out of the classroom
- Demonstrate instructional excellence by knowing students and adapting curriculum
- Remain current with best practices for the developmental needs of children and adolescents
- Embrace the school’s six core values and become a contributing member of the school community
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience teaching physical education preferred
- Experience coaching youth sports required
- Excellent communication skills (verbal / written) and organizational skills
- Collaborative team player and advocate for self and community
- Cultural competency with a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging
- A sense of humor, flexibility, energy, patience, and creativity
