Primary Responsibilities: Oversee and direct all aspects of the Extended Day and Co-Curricular programs, including hiring, onboarding, supervision, and evaluation of employees; managing the budget; generating revenue for the school; planning and executing summer programs; organizing vacation camps; and possibly other initiatives which support community connections. Ensure that the mission of the school, as well as the values of excellence, wellness, joy, and belonging permeate the programs and that the needs of a vibrant and diverse community are met.
Hours/Classification: 12-Months Full-Time; Exempt - Expected on-campus hours M-F 10 am - 6:30 pm

Position Overview
The Hamlin School is seeking an experienced leader to direct all aspects of our Extended Day Programs. Hamlin’s Extended Day Programs are robust and central to the school’s mission and Creed. We provide excellent daily programming for our families and endeavor to offer opportunities for unstructured play, free choice, as well as educational enrichment through opportunities to learn and explore. This leadership position represents an exciting opportunity for someone who exudes love for children and positive, creative energy; the successful candidate will be an experienced leader who has a vision for developing and sustaining programs and enjoys being hands-on in their work. The Extended Day programs are a critical part of school operations, and we are looking for a professional who is passionate about the kinds of learning that happens outside of the classroom each day.

Primary Areas of Responsibility
Design, Oversee, and Direct Hamlin’s Extended Day and Co-Curricular Programs
- Promote an atmosphere of respect, honesty, responsibility, caring support, joy, and excellence among all staff, children and families involved in HUB, After 3, After School Academy (ASA), Music Academy (MA), Morning Care, Vacation Camp, and Summer Programs
- Collaborate with Director of Operations (DO) to develop budget and fees for programs
- Collaborate with the Lower and Middle School Division Heads and staff to design creative, engaging, age-appropriate programs for K-8 students
- Manage all After School Academy (ASA), Music Academy (MA), and summer field experiences (SFE), including websites, registration, billing, and payroll in partnership with the Business Office and the Associate Director of Extended Day Programs
- Supervise, support, and evaluate ASA, MA and SFE programs and staff
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train ASA, MA and SFE staff
- Collaborate with Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to administer financial assistance program for summer camp families
- Coordinate annual summer program summary and financial report to the Director of Operations
- Collaborate with Director of Communications to ensure the timely completion of program mailings, advertising, and marketing
Music Academy and After School Academy
- Manage After School Academy and Music Academy, including developing programming, managing contractor agreements, creating course catalogs, advertising, conducting registration, managing waitlist, scheduling required classroom usage, billing, ensuring timely contractor payments, and processing timesheets in coordination with the Business Office and Director of Operations.
- Work with Lower School teachers, Extended Day team, and students on logistics to ensure students know where their classes are and get there on time
- Observe classes and provide feedback to teachers and contractors
- Send updates (twice per session) to participating families with photographs and details about class activities
- Create a quarterly “Extended Day Examiner” digital mailing to Lower School families.
Communications
- Photograph and write about all Extended Day Programs in collaboration with the Associate Director
- Post weekly program updates and highlights to the NOW in collaboration with the Associate Director
Extended Day and Co-Curricular Programs
- Communicate with and support other Extended Day staff
- Serve as a floater during drop-in program time– assisting parents and students with questions, observing classes, assisting in program rooms or outside as needed. (Exact schedule TBD based on program needs.)
- Meet periodically with the Director of Operations to evaluate programs and provide feedback to each other
- Work collaboratively to create program themes and concepts
- Assist in mentoring and supervising staff
Qualifications
- Understanding and support of Hamlin’s mission, values, and program
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Passion for child development and sheer delight in childhood and adolescence
- Prior teaching experience in a racially and economically diverse setting
- Prior experience in program development/curriculum design
- Excellent communication skills– speaking, writing, and listening
- Impeccable organizational skills– an eye for detail and precision
- Desire and ability to work effectively with colleagues from all walks of life
- Enthusiasm, creativity, maturity, work ethic, honesty, patience, and emotional self-regulation
- Ability to accept and provide supervision and guidance
