The Technology Support Specialist role is performed under the general direction of the interim co-directors of technology, working as part of a team to deliver the front-line IT support to the Laguna Blanca School community (students, faculty, staff, and parents). The Technology Support Specialist assists with the configuration, maintenance, and support of school-wide IT infrastructure as well as end-user software and hardware by answering in-person and digital requests, resolving and documenting issues, or escalating to others as appropriate. This position will travel between two locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond in a timely manner to support requests received via ticketing system, telephone, and in-person visits.
- Assist faculty and staff for the purpose of resolving classroom instructional problems with various hardware and/or software applications and the use of technology.
- Assess malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications on Windows, Mac, and iPad devices for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and other technological operations.
- Install computer hardware and software applications for the purpose of providing support to teachers and staff.
- Set up, configure, and test equipment, software, and web applications in Windows, Mac, Chromebook, and iPad environments.
- Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment including but not limited to computer hardware, printers, peripherals, visual equipment, and other devices.
- Troubleshoot hardware/software problems.
- Provide training as needed to site personnel in the operation of technology equipment and software.
- Support faculty and staff with A/V equipment requests at meetings, assemblies, or special events.
- Create and maintain up-to-date documentation and training materials within the ticketing system.
- Other related duties in support of the Technology Department and the greater school..
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience.
- 2-3 years prior experience is preferred, experience in an Educational setting a plus.
- Must have a Driver’s License.
- LiveScan and Moving Vehicle Report required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able push/pull/bend and lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs and work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to traverse school facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
