This is a full-time temporary leave replacement position. Salaries are competitive with the local independent schools.
Brief Overview of the Role
The ideal applicant is someone who has experience with and a passion for working with Middle and Upper School students. Candidates should have at least two years counseling experience and preferably possess specific experience with adolescents. Wooster expects teachers to collaborate across departmental lines and to build and integrate curriculum. A commitment to lifelong learning, building relationships, creating compassion, and developing community are pillars of teaching and learning in this setting.

Expectations
- Deliver direct social and emotional support for students through scheduled regular meetings, drop-ins as needed, and group conversations.
- Support students in communicating their needs with peers, teachers, and family members.
- Facilitate and support the use of strategies to regulate emotional concerns.
- Work with and support teachers in developing classrooms that support student needs.
- Work with admissions to review files and interview parents, students, outside providers.
- Collaborate with families to assess and meet the social and emotional needs of their students.
- Facilitate communication with families regarding crisis interventions, including medical leaves and return to school plans.
- Provide direct SEL instruction for Middle School students.
- Collaborate with outside mental health clinicians to support students in school.
- Collaborate with multiple parties in the creation of Wooster Education Plans.
- Work with the Student Life team, Deans and Director of Divisions, to support students re: behavioral concerns.
- Collaborate with colleagues, coordinators, and directors for the well being of students.
- Attend weekly student support meetings.
