We are seeking a passionate and collaborative language arts teacher to join our Elementary General Studies 2nd & 3rd grade team. Essential duties include: (1) planning and preparation of materials, classroom instruction with an eye towards differentiated and progressive practices with ongoing student assessment and feedback; (2) guiding the curricular planning for lower elementary teams (K-3) (3) active, participation in curriculum development, pedagogy, and best practices. (4) leading meetings and professional development sessions for the Language Arts department
Successful candidates will possess a growth mindset, emotional intelligence, self-motivation, curiosity and openness to new ideas, excellent oral and written communication skills, and comfort in a school setting where children’s learning and experiences are central to educational decisions. This position can be full time or three-quarters time.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach elementary language arts incorporating the structure of Teachers College Reading and Writing program, as well as skill-based curricula including Wilson’s Fundations and Hochman’s The Writing Revolution.
- Collaborate with a team of teachers to create classroom systems, facilitate team meetings, and liaise with parents
- Differentiate instruction for a diverse group of learners in a progressive setting
- Design and deliver curriculum using backward design and guide the Language Arts team to do the same
- Assess student learning and create evidence-based goals

Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- Training in Special Education and/or literacy preferred
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
- Strong pedagogical skills
