In collaboration with the Head of School, the Development Director, and Director of Admissions, this position will lead, plan, direct and implement overall strategies for all communications and marketing on behalf of dTHS in order to advance its brand and articulate clear messaging to internal and external constituencies. The primary objective of the Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing is to communicate a compelling story about dTHS. The Director will oversee and actively participate in the creation, design, budget and production of all publications, marketing and advertising from print to digital and social media outlets, as well as promotional activities of dTHS.
Responsibilities:
- Implement communications strategies and plans that advance and drive increased engagement with prospective and current constituencies including but not limited to prospective families and donors.
- Ensure brand and messaging quality and consistency and establish guidelines to apply across all departments, activities, and events at the school and among professional and volunteer leadership.
- Ensure brand consistency across all stakeholders in all communications.
- Creation and maintenance of website, online campaigns, email marketing, and social media.
- Design, create and manage all advertising campaigns
- Manage and oversee the Marketing Manager as well as the Photography Coordinator to ensure an efficient work environment.
- Oversee Communications and Marketing department budget including bidding out production of materials when appropriate to outside vendors.
- Ensure continuity of the school’s brand and logo across all communication platforms and all campus signage.
- Create and execute graphic design for all publications and serve as in-house graphic designer for all communications, printed and digital.
- Engage actively in professional development in order to remain current in best practices related to independent school communications, emerging social media, and effective marketing and advertising strategies.
- Staff the Board Communications and Marketing Committee.
- Participate actively in the work and success of the senior leadership team and provide support for school events and administrative jobs as requested.
- Oversee and implement Media Relations.
- Handle requests for information, pictures, content and other items from internal & external sources.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A. in business, marketing, communications, or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Individual must possess a minimum of 8-10 ten years combined senior management and communications experience, preferably in a Jewish day, independent school, or nonprofit organization.
- Experience must include strategic planning, communications planning and management, marketing, and media relations.
