Position Summary: Position is responsible for creating a classroom environment and curriculum that fosters, promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function in relation to sexual health, self-care and positive choices.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, physical and psychological growth
- Core content, standards-based curriculum creation, implementation and delivery in the classroom
- Demonstrated ability to navigate difficult content delivery and conversations
- Creates and implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
- Participates in interdepartmental educational delivery methodology
- Collaborates with Department Chairs, Learning Resource Center, Well-being committee for program delivery beyond the classroom
- Update and maintain all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
- Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
- Maintains discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
- Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
- Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
- Communicates necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student need
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Strong classroom management skills required
- Highly organized; flexible in meeting the needs of boarding students and their families;
- Ability to create lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse student population
- Technologically savvy
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in relevant subject area
- Education and Health Certificate certification preferred
- International education experience
- Experience working with student athletes
- Bilingual a plus
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
- Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
- Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
