Garrison Forest School is seeking a professional in child development and early learning for the position of full-time Preschool Associate Teacher commencing in August 2022. The ideal candidate will work to support academic programs and prepare the students in and out of the classroom to thrive in a complex, changing world. This is a full-time position in our three-year-old classroom, Monday – Friday, from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm. This position reports to the Director of Early Childhood Education. Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist the lead teacher with
- Creating and maintaining a positive atmosphere that teaches and models respect, kindness, and honesty with students, parents, and colleagues
- Keeping appropriate records of each child’s progress and notable behaviors and use those records to assess academic, emotional, physical, and social needs and strengths
- Communicating the curriculum and each child’s progress to parents and guardians, participate in formal and informal parent conferences a minimum of three times per year, and help teachers write Progress Reports
- Maintaining a safe, healthy, and orderly learning environment, keeping equipment and materials in good condition, arranging the classroom attractively, and keeping storage areas clean and organized
- Supervising and supporting, interns, volunteers, substitutes, and Child Development students as needed
- Creates an environment of trust and open communication with parents
- Ensures the development and lessons are age appropriate
- Attend faculty meetings and relevant parent meetings and contribute to those meetings
- Remain in compliance on all Office of Childcare regulations
- Participate in the Admission process as needed

Qualifications:
- B.A. degree or equivalent
- Prior experience working with preschool children in a school
- Possess strong communication skills, a patient and thorough understanding of adolescence and the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues
