This teacher will assist the lead teacher in the Early Childhood program to implement curriculum and follow routines, using the Reggio Emilia method. Our curriculum is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, which encourages young children and their teachers to explore, question and discover in a stimulating environment. The acquisition of developmental skills and content knowledge is supported through play, small group experiences, resource classes and project investigations. Faculty assistants contribute significantly to the EC educational program. They work under the supervision of the lead teacher and support faculty by providing important assistance with instruction of students.
The faculty assistant will build and maintain positive interactions with children and assure ISACS accreditation guidelines are followed. Must provide a positive role model for children and create and maintain positive relationships with peers, parents and principal and will participate in ongoing assessment of children assigned to the classroom.

Pembroke Hill has small classroom sizes with a student teacher ratio in PreSchool of 16:2. The faculty assistant position is based on the school year (August through May) with hours 7:40 am - 3:40 pm Mon-Fri. There are two 2-week breaks (December and March), one week at spring break, plus holidays and sick bank days. Annual base salary for the school year is approximately $24-25,000 (based on previous experience) and there are ways to earn additional compensation through early room, extended day, coaching and/or summer camps. Position requirements include a Bachelor's degree, preferably in the early education field. Previous classroom or teaching experience is required and previous work with age 2 - PreK is strongly preferred.
