The most competitive candidates will feel comfortable and have a demonstrated interest in teaching any of our middle and upper school Spanish offerings, and the ability to teach the lower levels of French is a desirable asset as well. Due to the collegial nature of our faculty, a willing investment in collaborative efforts, professional growth, and the broader life of the school are all expectations of work at Episcopal. Contribution to the larger school community, through such means as academic advising and coaching or sponsoring of extracurricular programs, is expected of all community members.
Qualifications:
...... Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study from a four-year college or university, or post-graduate work in subject matter; advanced degree is preferred
.......Fluency in the Spanish language
......Three years of teaching experience in an independent school setting is preferred.
However, consideration will be afforded to any qualified individual who has either worked in other educational settings or is new to the teaching profession, and who has a strong sense of vocation to work with students in an independent, college-preparatory environment.
Candidates should possess:
... deep knowledge of, and a passion for, for both Peninsular and Latin American Spanish and culture
...a working familiarity with the content and skills necessary to teach Spanish well, such as the ability to design and implement lesson plans, to assess students in a manner that supports their progress, and to supervise students and promote a safe and orderly learning environment.
...a strong desire to work in a collaborative, inclusive, and learner-centered environment.
...a commitment to and engagement in collaborative work to achieve both department-specific and school-wide goals.
... a growth-mindset in seeking and taking advantage of opportunities for continued learning and professional growth in your field at Episcopal.
