Friends School of Portland seeks an organized, enthusiastic, and communicative individual for the position of Enrollment Director, a role that focuses on admissions, general enrollment and retention, and parent communication.
The Enrollment Director works within a dynamic administrative team and a fantastic faculty community. The qualified person will have enthusiasm for progressive and whole child education as well as the natural world, and a commitment to furthering our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion goals. They will want to learn about, deeply understand, and believe in the mission of FSP, and genuinely convey this enthusiasm to the greater community and prospective families. In addition, the Enrollment Director will understand that retention is just as important as admissions, and know how to maintain strong relationships with current families and with the community at large, and what role cultural competence plays in admissions and retention. Finding the best ways to attract prospective families to the school and to accompany them through the sometimes vulnerable discernment process is key. This is a multi-faceted role requiring a balancing act of a number of priorities as well as a lot of social interactions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Establish the admissions and enrollment calendar including admission events, application timeline, parent and student visiting days, admissions decisions day, and retention events
- Organize and lead admission and retention events (both in-person and virtual), including the bi-annual Admission Open House, Admission Tours, seasonal Information Sessions, and Step-Up Teas
- Compose regular admissions newsletters, revise admissions materials, including application forms, information fliers, and the admissions portion of the school’s website
- Coordinate with the Development Director for all-school, all-community newsletters, social media, and wider marketing strategies
- Conduct community outreach
- Continue DEI work to understand and draw conclusions on how FSP can best support and retain families of color
- Lead families through FSP’s Admissions process. Keep statistics/records on all admissions/enrollment activities
- Manage Applications and assist in managing enrollment through the FACTS Student Information System.
- Visit classrooms to stay informed about what is happening.
- Coordinate the entire applicant timeline, including applicant visits, the parent interview process, admission committee meetings, and admissions decisions day
- Organize and facilitate all grade level admission committee meetings
- Assist the Finance Manager with financial aid applications
- Coordinate with the Development Director and HOS to welcome newly enrolled families to the school
