Mirman School seeks an experienced full-time Upper School (5th-8th) math teacher for the 2022-2023 school year who is compelled by the school’s mission and committed to developmentally appropriate mathematical instruction and support for students. Teachers at Mirman School support differentiation with our students’ curiosities and passions with cross-curricular integration. Teachers are also engaged in regular collaboration, curriculum development, and pedagogical reflection. Ideal candidates should have an extensive knowledge of secondary math up through precalculus and/or calculus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach 5 sections of math classes including some combination ranging from pre-algebra to precalculus based upon experience.
- Collaborate, design curriculum and format of math classes together with the math department chair, Director of Inclusivity, Equity, and Community, Head of the Upper School, and division colleagues
- Foster a love of and joy for learning
- Differentiate learning for students
- Regularly analyze assessment data to optimize the learning for students
- Advise 12-14 students and support Mirman’s SEL program
- Participate in and/or travel on an overnight outdoor educational trip
- Maintain timely communication with students and families
- Participate in and support school community activities, programs, professional development, and initiatives
- Cultivate and model a respectful, safe, creative, and innovative classroom
- Evaluate student work, using both formative and summative assessments, benchmarks and other assessments to guide instructional planning and promote student success
- Observe and evaluate student academic and social progress, and submit grades and reports on time
- Integrate technology and STEAM into teaching and learning
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other faculty throughout all grade levels on campus
- Exhibit a sense of humor and a commitment to high ethical professional standards and a culturally competent perspective
- Design and teach innovative math electives and mini-workshop classes
- Write personal/academic recommendations for students for their matriculation to secondary schools
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in a math or related field
- Master’s degree in education preferred
- Three years’ teaching experience preferred
- Successful teaching experience in advanced elementary to secondary school
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Flexibility and creativity in working in a dynamic environment exhibiting the qualities of an adult learner dedicated to their craft
- A desire to integrate curriculum and to teach collaboratively
- Compassionate to the middle school age and experience
- Culturally competent and engaged community learner
- Exhibit enthusiasm and commitment to the vision, mission and guiding principles of the school
- Independent school experience preferred
- Experience working with highly gifted children preferred
