The Co-op School a progressive, Preschool through 8th grade, independent school located in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, is seeking an organized and collaborative Cooperative Coordinator to join our Leadership Team.
The Co-op School is a Cooperative school, and our families are more than participants; they’re the fabric of our school. Our cooperative model helps keep tuition lower than other independent schools and also results in a unique sense of ownership and belonging. When families work together to do service for the school, it provides a more harmonious and thriving community
The Cooperative Coordinator works closely with parents and administrators to plan and oversees all community events and cooperative work. The Cooperative Coordinator promotes community and the Cooperative Commitment through regular communication. Additionally, the Cooperative Coordinator works with the Head of School and Neighborhood Partnership Committee to promote community relationships between the school and the surrounding neighborhood.
The Cooperative Coordinator reports to The Head of School

- Problem solver, organizational, collaborative, communication, and relational skills
- The ability to think flexibly and adapt to dynamic circumstances
- The ability to work collaboratively
- Very organized and detail-oriented.
Committee Responsibilities
- Oversee all projects, events and work shifts for the school year
- Track all committee responsibilities and requirements
- Offer guidance & support to all cooperative participants
- Arrange for work shifts to be created and fulfilled for committee events
- Document and maintain records and spreadsheets for all committee work
- Host reflection meetings after task/event to see what could be built on or done differently for future years
Budget
- Approve and monitor all committee spending
- Collaborate with the Business office to track, monitor, and analyze Fundraising proceeds
Communications
- Update and oversee school-wide, communication databases, Edsby
- Collaborate with other administrators to update Family & Staff Handbooks
- Update website with upcoming events
- Work with marketing and communication team to create and send all Cooperative communications.
- Monitor and manage the school’s social media platforms
Community
- Work with faculty and administration to coordinate school wide events
- Work with Community Partnership Committee to create programs and engagement between the school and the Bed-Stuy community
