Crane Country Day School is hiring a full-time Assistant to the Head of School. Contract to begin July 1, 2022. The assistant to the head is a highly visible individual at the school who works closely with the head of school to oversee the well-being of the school and the overall school community. The assistant to the head plays a major role in the life of the school and this person is expected to be deeply involved in day-to-day work with faculty and students.
Education & Experience:
- A four-year degree, preferably in a relatable field of study.
- Two or more years of experience in a similar role.

- Expertise in writing, editing, and proofreading

- Collaborative nature and team-building skills
- High energy and enthusiasm for school life
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times
- Sophisticated computer skills including ease with bulk email; creating and utilizing complex spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations; Google Suite
- Enthusiasm for learning and taking on tasks that may be unfamiliar
- Spanish-speaking preferred
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Actively manages head of school’s calendar, schedules meetings, and coordinates with all-school events
- Provides support services for the school’s board of trustees: communications regarding general and community-level meetings; serves as recording secretary at general meetings; supports board chair; coordinates the yearly board calendar with committee chairs
- Serves as recording secretary at faculty meetings; distributes communications between the head of school and faculty
- Handles the head of school’s correspondence and mail
- Prepares and edits articles, reports, and presentations
- Makes travel and guest arrangements
- Provides general secretarial duties to support the main office, and plays a key role in keeping the office running smoothly
- Serves as principle liaison for Parents for Crane (PFC), and offers support to the PFC president
- Organizes and coordinates multiple events: faculty retreats, registration days, holiday party, graduation, board-related gatherings
- Coordinates faculty recruitment and hiring efforts
- Works closely with development office to create annual community directory, faculty/student planners, and calendars
- Performs other duties as assigned
