Sinai Akiba Academy is looking for a Pre-K-5th grade science teacher. Candidates should have a passion for science and professional development, knowledge of the FOSS curriculum, and an understanding of the NGSS Standards. In addition, candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and a group of dedicated specialists.
Major Responsibilities
- Model the school's philosophy in working with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
- Work with the Lower School Director and Middle School Science Department to carry out the academic program: curriculum development and implementation, classroom management, student assessment, and parent communication
- Demonstrate professionalism, including discretion, judgment, and integrity
- Collaborate with grade level colleagues, as well as work closely with other Lower School faculty around teaching and learning
- Write semester report cards and conduct twice yearly parent-teacher conferences for families
- Attend and participate in the following: services, faculty in-service meetings, student assemblies, and other school functions, as requested
- Attend weekly faculty meetings and actively participate in curricular discussions
- Participate in professional development opportunities and keep current on educational issues and trends
