Cape Henry Collegiate (CHC) seeks a Director of Alumni Relations to strengthen and grow relationships between the School and our alumni community. The Director of Alumni Relations must be self motivated, creative in their work and committed to building and growing both alumni programs and alumni annual giving. The ideal candidate is friendly, outgoing, and willing to become an active member of a vibrant school and alumni community. A candidate who is comfortable taking the initiative and developing new ideas will be more successful in this role.
Position Duties (include, but are not limited to)
- Establish and strengthen relationships between CHC and our alumni community
- Develop and create new programming to support our efforts to better engage our growing alumni community
- Manage CHC Alumni Association Board and its volunteers, activities, and meetings
- Collaborate with the Director of Development on creating an alumni giving strategy
- Serve as a front line gift officer, soliciting gifts for the Cape Henry Fund and shared responsibility for meeting alumni giving goals for dollars and participation
- Contribute and create content for quarterly alumni e-newsletter, Soundings magazine, and social media platforms
- Manage senior class giving program
- Design and implement programs for current students including Alumni Career Day and Job Shadow Day
- Plan and host local and regional alumni events
- Utilize reports from Raiser’s Edge to analyze metrics
- Assist with general Development Team operations duties such as mailings, event logistics, and database entries
- Maintain professional relationships with all members of the school community
- Other duties as assigned
The Cape Henry Collegiate (CHC) Development Team works under the Advancement umbrella with Admissions and Communications. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Director of Alumni Relations will oversee and develop initiatives to strengthen alumni engagement as well as growing a culture of philanthropy. This person will manage the Alumni Association and collaborate with the Advancement Team on strategy and implementation of local and regional events including Reunion Weekend, Alumni Career Day, and Job Shadowing Day. They will work with the Director of Communications to produce content for alumni publications, the school website and social media, and Soundings magazine. The Director of Alumni Relations will actively solicit and secure alumni and senior gifts for the Cape Henry Fund. The ideal candidate will create and implement new initiatives to take a successful alumni program to the next level.
Education and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of demonstrated fundraising and stewardship success in a non-profit or independent school setting
- Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement, and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers
- Strong writing, planning, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as thrive in a team environment to achieve institutional goals
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
- Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or a similar constituent database
- Ability to occasionally travel and work evenings and weekends as needed
