Haddonfield Friends School is seeking qualified candidates for an assistant teacher position in the early childhood grades for the 2022-2023 school year. Qualified candidates will have an understanding of and affinity for Quaker philosophy. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, supporting the lead teacher with small group instruction, one-on-one student support, preparation for class projects, supporting toileting and hygiene needs, and classroom organization and management. Other duties may include overseeing lunch, recess, and arrival and substituting when necessary.
Strong candidates will bring:
- Experience in the early childhood classroom
- A commitment to health and safety best practices, including the ability to gently and effectively enforce social distancing and other safety guidelines and protocols
- Openness to collaboration and planning with the Lead Teacher, ECC colleagues and faculty across all grade levels
- Patience, along with a genuine understanding of child development and respectful behavior management strategies
- A rich repertoire of teaching strategies to address a variety of learning styles and needs
- Strong communication skills
- Strong technology skills and experience with technology integration in the classroom
- Commitment to continuous professional learning, including understanding and application of current research
- Ability to teach to the whole child, including enthusiasm for inquiry and project-based learning
- An ability to meet varied tasks and responsibilities with integrity, enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, cooperation, and humor
