Job Description:
The Director of Enrichment and Athletics is responsible for the entire Enrichment and Athletics program at Ecole Bilingue from TPS-8th grades. They plan and implement effective programming in the following areas: morning care, aftercare, enrichment classes, school vacation camps, summer camps, and athletics. They also oversee all daily recesses as well as the school hot lunch program. They directly supervise the Enrichment and Athletics Coordinator as well as all Enrichment Supervisors. They report directly to the Head of School.
Essential Functions
- Manages all aspects of the Enrichment and Athletics Department including athletics, summer camps, enrichment classes, school vacation camps, morning care, aftercare, and recesses.
- Supervises Enrichment and Athletics Coordinator and his/her associated responsibilities
- Supervises Enrichment Supervisors and all associated responsibilities
- Creates and implements, and oversees all summer camp and school vacation camp programming
- Creates, implements, and oversees all athletic programming, including all non-school day sports instruction, practice, and league participation
- Oversees excellent school-wide enrichment class programming during after-school hours.
- Oversees all lower school lunches and recess in conjunction with Division Directors and Enrichment and Athletics Coordinator
- Ensures the highest levels of safety for all activities associated with the Department
- Manages Enrichment and Athletics Dept. budget
- Is responsible for the hiring process, supervision, and evaluation of all Enrichment and Athletics staff
- Is responsible for planning and implementing all staff meetings and in-service days for Enrichment and Athletics staff
- Finds qualified substitutes when needed for Enrichment staff
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Work Environment
This job operates in childcare and school-age environments, both indoors and outdoors on campus. The position will interact with preschool and school-aged children on a daily basis. Director may also escort students during camp field trips during the year.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to climb stairs and lift 25 pounds frequently
- Ability to balance, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, squat, grip, and grasp occasionally
- Ability to aid children needing assistance, including lifting and changing diapers
- Perform repetitive motions such as: typing, moving, and manipulating computer equipment
- Ability to work in noisy environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is an exempt position. Hours vary according to school needs. M-F, 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm. These hours are to be organized in conjunction with Enrichment and Athletics Coordinator as needed.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS required
- At least 5 years of experience working with children in a pre-school and/or school-age program
- 15 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units completed and be Director qualified for Community Care Licensing
- Strong ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues via verbal and written correspondence
- Experience with planning and leading programs for groups of children
- Experience coordinating multiple programs and staff simultaneously
- Strong enthusiasm for working with children with a focus on enrichment initiatives
- Ability to effectively engage and interact with children in a responsible and caring manner
- Must be able to effectively collaborate with other school colleagues to facilitate a positive and productive experience for staff and children.
- Must have a patient and calm demeanor
- Must be able to type efficiently
- Must be able to multi-task and works well under pressure
- Strong ability to meet deadlines and problem solve
- Must be comfortable using basic computer systems, including email and G Suite/Google Apps, Microsoft Suites, and ability to quickly learn additional applications
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must be able to successfully pass state licensing and criminal background check.
