Buckingham Friends School seeks a new English teacher and classroom advisor beginning in September, 2022. This 10-month position includes teaching literature, writing, grammar, and vocabulary to students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A passion for reading and writing that inspires students to engage in reading and writing for pleasure and learning
- Familiarity with balanced literacy instruction and the building blocks of strong reading and writing practices
- Experience working with middle school students
- The ability to motivate, support, and challenge students in a student-centered community
- A background in curriculum development that supports the development of literacy skills
- A demonstrated track record of contributing to their former school(s)’ culture
- A strong commitment to issues of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Belonging (DEIJB)
- Knowledge of current DEIJB literature
- A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education or English
