The Junior Accountant will be an integral part of the Business Office and responsible for accounts payable/receivable and purchasing.

Accounts Payable:

Receive invoices and employee expense reimbursements, ensure proper approval, and codes, and post to the correct G/L account.

Prepare check requests and disbursements, mail checks, and maintain vendor files.

Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies.

Process and record monthly credit card transactions.

Prepare annual 1099s.
Accounts Receivable:
-
In conjunction with the Controller and Business Office Coordinator, enter tuition and fees billing data into Blackbaud Tuition Management.

Communicate with families regarding questions about their student accounts.
Purchasing:
-
Oversee the purchasing function, which may include processing purchases and confirming receipt of items ordered for invoice approval.

Assist faculty and staff with issues related to the purchasing process.
Additional:

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Carry out additional responsibilities assigned in support of the CFO, Director of Accounting, and Controller.

BS degree in Accounting or Finance preferred but not mandatory.

Independent School or nonprofit experience preferred but not mandatory.

Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.

In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Familiarity with financial accounting statements.

Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end and year-end close process.

Experience with systems such as Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.

Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.

A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

An aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.

Exceptional organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.

Ability to prioritize daily, monthly, and quarterly tasks and meet deadlines.
