We are currently seeking an Upper School Spanish Teacher to join in the vision of our World Language Department for the 2022-2023 school year. This is a part-time position with potential for growth. We are in need of a teacher to teach one Spanish course (level 2 Honors). Candidates who also can teach French will be considered for a French course as well.

Job Summary
The Upper School Spanish Teacher is responsible for providing a stimulating and developmentally appropriate educational environment in a way that is in accordance with the Goals and Criteria of a Sacred Heart education and the philosophy that informs it. This philosophy includes providing children opportunities to develop spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. The position of Part-Time Upper School Spanish Teacher is a ten-month position as outlined in the contract.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for teaching one section of Upper School Spanish, and if possible, one section of French
- Organizing and providing developmentally appropriate educational programs and instruction; planning and implementing curriculum in a coordinated fashion according to the scope and sequence of the Spanish language study program.
- Providing activities and opportunities that encourage cultural curiosity, grammatical exploration, and oral skills practice appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of his/her students.
- Planning and preparing supportive and caring classroom environment in which students can learn and interact positively with one another; overseeing instruction and authentic assessment; collaborating with colleagues who teach the same or similar courses
- Interacting with parents; maintaining open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement.
- Fulfilling all administrative tasks corresponding to the classes taught which include but are not limited to timely submission of grades and written student comments.
All teachers are expected:
- To assume serious collaborative responsibility for the educational environment of the School by conducting themselves at all times in a responsible, ethical, and professional manner
- To assist at School functions designated by the Head of School as necessary for the operation of the School, e.g., Parents' Night, Open House, Parent/Teacher Conferences, etc. It is understood that these duties may sometimes extend beyond the normal hours for school
- To use technology effectively as part of classroom instruction
- To interact positively with colleagues in creating and imparting interdisciplinary units of study
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Spanish (preferred) or a related field; minimum 3 years teaching experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities of his/her grade assignment.
