The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD is seeking candidates to fill the position of High School Study Hall Proctor for the 2022-2023 academic year. This full-time High School position will entail working with students in grades 9 through 12 supervising our study hall program and supporting students through our test and quiz make-up program.
The ideal candidate will have a record of successful experience working with high school age students. The role is supervisory in that the candidate selected will have a full schedule of study hall periods where they are responsible for the attendance of students as well as their productive use of time for academic purposes; this may also include supervision of students who are engaged in online classes. While not expected to be an instructor of any subject, the successful candidate will be expected to provide encouragement and appropriate assistance to students who may need it, and to oversee our test and quiz make-up program which requires detailed work and collaboration with other faculty members. The study hall supervisor will also be called upon to fulfill other supervisory/chaperoning responsibilities from time to time and will be asked to take an active role in the life of the school.
Responsibilities include:
- Proctoring high school study halls throughout the school day;
- Overseeing the test make-up system, including sign-up, test collection and test returns;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a BA is preferred.
- Experience working with students of high school age, preferably in a school setting.
- Demonstrated supervisory or classroom management skills preferred.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferred.
- Fluency with technology required.
- Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) required.

Work Environment:
- Faculty may be asked to perform their work responsibilities on campus and/or at home. In both settings, the teacher is required to maintain a professional environment.
- While on campus, classes may be operating either in person or in an alternative setting. Teachers are expected to be present and accessible for the entire school day (contracted hours), regardless of the setting.
