Lansdowne Friends School seeks a part-time Spanish teacher to begin in September of 2022. They will teach a total of 14 Spanish classes per week to students from Pre-K to 6th grade. This position is part-time, with the possibility of being full-time. If interested in a full-time position, please include that in your application.
The Spanish teacher is responsible for developing, planning and implementing Spanish instruction for all students. Qualified candidates will have classroom teaching experience, and a strong understanding or openness to language acquisition theory and teaching with a Comprehensible Input approach. Successful candidates will have a passion for teaching Spanish and an interest in further developing our school’s Spanish program.
Key qualifications include:
- A bachelor’s degree in Spanish, elementary or middle school education or in a related subject area
- Fluency in Spanish reading, writing, speaking and listening (Native/heritage speakers preferred)
- Passion for teaching Spanish to children, including but not limited to language, culture, geography, and history
- Experience as a classroom teacher, preferably in a progressive and/or Quaker independent school
- Experience developing and implementing Spanish curriculums and lesson plans for students PreK-6th grade
- Familiarity with the Responsive Classroom approach to building class community
- Ability to form trusting and positive relationships with students and colleagues
- Collaborative approach to working with children and colleagues
- Interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational and technology skills, such as Google Suites, Zoom, and student information systems
- Affinity with Quaker values and the mission of Lansdowne Friends School
Salary Range: Full-time equivalent salary of $39,500 to $51,880, depending on experience and educational background.
