Boulder Country Day’s mission and strategic plan guides our efforts to engage, enhance, and embody a diverse, well-informed community. BCD currently has employee and parent committees on diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) that supports our DEI program, and the coordinator will partner with those groups. The Coordinator position is a dynamic role that will:
- Provide strategic leadership in the areas of equity and inclusivity, living into and continuing work on our equity and inclusivity strategic plan.
- Lead the development and implementation of a cultural proficiency framework for the BCD community.
- Guide communication strategy to keep the school community informed and educated about evolving equity and inclusivity issues, curriculum, policies, etc.
- Collaborate with BCD’s teachers to ensure BCD’s curriculum reflects our diverse learning community and complex world, representing a wide variety of perspectives and experiences, providing cultural relevance for students, and fostering critical thinking around issues of justice and equity.
- Serve as a coaching resource for faculty, professional staff, and the BCD community in the areas of equity, inclusion, and cultural proficiency.
- Provide classroom and community support and training in the areas of equity, inclusion, and social justice.
- Serve as an advocate for all students, faculty, staff, and families.
- Lead and support equity and inclusion parent groups such as the Parent Affinity Group Program.
- In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, participate in an inclusive hiring process and assist in increasing effectiveness in cultivating, recruiting, mentoring and retaining diverse faculty, professional staff, and administrators.
- Measure, analyze, benchmark and report the school’s progress on matters of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice using quantitative and qualitative data.
- Be actively involved in community outreach, connecting BCD to local organizations and community members in support of DEI work.
- Act as a liaison between the School and various underrepresented and diverse communities in the locale in support of the School's continued effort to connect with our community and better support the School's outreach and admissions marketing and recruitment programs.
The Coordinator must have a capacity for teamwork and for developing sensitive working relationships with students, faculty, professional staff, parents, and trustees; have the ability to manage thoughtfully the personal, political and institutional dynamics related to equity and inclusivity issues in schools; be a self-starter with strong communications and organizational skills; have the capacity to manage multiple initiatives and responsibilities; be willing to engage in outward facing community engagement; and have a deep concern and compassion for people.

Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred); five or more years of experience in DEI work in a school environment; personal and professional development through conferences and workshops devoted to diversity, equity and inclusion; a global mindset with wide-ranging knowledge of world cultures; the ability to coordinate school-wide programming across all divisions; a willingness to plan, participate in, and support school events and activities; leadership experience including presentations, workshops and committee work on topics of diversity, equity and inclusion; and a minimum 3 years classroom teaching experience (preferred). The position includes annual travel to a national conference, such as the NAIS People of Color Conference, in addition to local diversity meetings, workshops, and training.
