The Village Community School, a K-8 co-ed school located in the West Village, seeks a self-motivated, collaborative, inclusive, and forward thinking Technology/STEAM Teacher/Integrator.
Our Technology and STEAM curriculum has a focus on technology concepts and operations, robotics, coding, design & making through the lens of design thinking, and may include topics such as computer literacy, digital citizenship, computer graphics, video production, desktop publishing, 3D-printing, etc.
We are looking for a candidate who will cultivate a classroom environment that prepares students to work both independently and collaboratively to solve challenges through the design process. There is a focus on those activities that allow students to engage in real-world problems and experiences through project-based, hands-on learning activities.
Our Technology/STEAM Integrator provides integration support and training to students and faculty. They play a key role in leading and further developing VCS’s Technology and STEAM program and curriculum, Makerspace & STEAM initiatives, and interdisciplinary technology projects.
This is a full-time, 10-month position. The Technology Integrator reports to the Director of Technology and works closely with faculty, students and administration to support and enhance the use of technology in the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Teach Technology and/or STEAM classes throughout our Tech/STEAM Program
- Work collaboratively with faculty to seamlessly integrate technology into the curriculum in an effort to enhance instruction and learning
- Identify and promote opportunities to collaborate across disciplines using integration and curriculum technology resources
- Work with the entire Technology Team to identify and implement expanded offerings and opportunities for technology and STEAM experiences for staff and students
- Develop and lead professional development sessions for faculty
- Train students, faculty, and administration to use available software and hardware
- Keep up to date with current trends in educational technology and technology education
- Attend regular planning meetings with teaching teams and provide technology updates and extension ideas
- Investigate innovative technologies and applications for implementation in the classroom
- Spearhead the innovative use of our new building spaces including the technology lab, innovation lab, and library media center
- Work with Technology Department members to troubleshoot helpdesk support requests
- The ideal candidate will be patient, organized, hard-working, eager to learn with a growth mindset and feel comfortable with collaboration. Teaching experience with middle school-aged students and proven experience integrating technology in a school environment is preferred.
