RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic teacher of theater arts and interactive pedagogy, an eager participant and collaborator in school life, as well as an educator committed to fostering positive relationships for learning and dedicated to our core principles of character, educational vigor, diversity, and community.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Performing Arts colleagues in the mounting of three divisional musical productions each year and two non-musical dramatic productions, as well as teach theater arts courses to students in Grade 5 through Grade 12.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with Performing Arts colleagues to select shows that best serve the educational goals of the students and support the core principle of the school.
- Secure the theatrical rights to pursue chosen productions.
- Collaborate with Performing Arts colleagues to conduct auditions and select the casting for mainstage shows.
- Collaborate with the technical director on production of mainstage shows, including set, lighting, sound, and costume design.
- Communicate with students and their parents regarding ongoing performances, building trust and ensuring student growth and learning.
- Serve as chapter sponsor for the school’s chapter of the International Thespian Society and duties included in such role.
- Serve as an advisor to a group of 8-10 advisees and take on additional responsibilities such as advising a club or serving on a committee.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, or Bachelor's degree and/or extensive experience in the field; Master of Fine Arts preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years experience working with school-aged children teaching theater and directing productions.
