Garrison Forest School is seeking an experienced, dynamic Director of Human Resources to begin immediately. This position is responsible for administering human resource policies and procedures, balancing employee advocacy and the operating needs of the School. The Director of Human Resources works closely with department and division heads to provide comprehensive HR support including payroll, benefits administration, recruitment/onboarding, employee wellness, and problem solving and dispute resolutions.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Foster an inclusive and equitable human resources strategy in support of the school’s statement of respect
- Assists in the ongoing development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Managing recruiting and onboarding process for all new employees including background checks
- Manage and perform all functional areas of human resources including payroll, benefits administration, annual open enrollment, leave of absences, and workers compensation
- Be a strategic partner to division and department heads to advise, counsel, and provide coaching and resolution to address personnel challenges
- Works closely with employees to provide consultation and guidance to improve work relationships, build moral and increase retention
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local legislation and other legal guidelines
- Serve as a fiduciary for the school’s 403b retirement plan and manages the annual 403b audit

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business, finance, management or related field preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of related Human Resources/Benefits experience
- Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws
- Confidence navigating difficult or sensitive conversations and managing confidential information
- A commitment to supporting diversity and multicultural education practices; Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse community and lead in an equitable manner are essential
- Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and ability to execute multiple tasks with changing priorities; proficient in technology
- High level of initiative and proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Ability to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences
- Independent school and Paycom.com experience preferred
