Position: Long Term Substitute Teacher–Health/Physical Education Teacher
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Long Term Substitute Health/Physical Education Teacher that has both depth and breadth of content expertise to team with our Health/PE Department and Grade Level Academy Team. Applicants should have experience with student-centered educational practices, a broad array of assessment strategies, and be comfortable with teaching all levels of learners across all disciplines within health and physical education. S/he is expected to be proficient with various forms of communication and instructional technology. Applicants will also be expected to be involved with co-curricular activities and/or mentoring students. In addition, we are seeking applicants with experience in service-oriented, project-based learning. Most importantly, it is essential that the candidate believes in the idea that we put team goals before our own, where we are “one team all in.”
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a health, physical education, or education discipline (required)
- Master's Degree or Education Degree (preferred)
- 3+ Years of teaching experience (preferred)
- Current (dated within a year) clearances (required)
Essential Duties:
- Creates and implements highly innovative, well-prepared lesson plans for a balanced program of instruction, application and class work activities within the health and physical education curriculum for all assigned classes
- Communicates student progress and class objectives to parents on a regular basis
- Keeps students actively engaged in learning by regularly utilizing student-centered learning methods
- Designs, adapts, and delivers instruction to address each student’s diverse learning strengths and needs and creates opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning in different ways
- Understands and values the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion as essential to curricular design.
- Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards, acting as a role model
- Builds mutual trust, respect and cooperation with students and colleagues
