Position Goal: Use leadership, management, and administrative skills to support the best possible educational program, supporting the mission, vision, beliefs and values of the school and students.
Overview: The Dean of Students at Denver Academy of Torah is a member of the Educational Leadership team, assisting with the daily operation of the school in areas of attendance, behavior, and academics. The Dean of Students serves as the director of student services, ensuring that all learning accommodations plans are up to date and that classroom teachers are well-versed in the accommodations of individual students. Responsibilities of the position include regular contact and good working relationships with parents, administration, the student services support team, students, and relevant external organizations.
Professional Qualifications:
Must be a skilled and experienced educator who meets the following professional criteria and experience:
- Holds a Masters degree in a field of education
- Required minimum of 3 years experience as a classroom teacher
- Preferred education administrative experience of 1 year
Other Experiences (Preferred)
- Experienced and effective in proctoring assessments, analysis of data, and communicating results.
- Able to recognize and analyze problems and develop potential solutions calling on staff resources and outside help as needed.
- Able to follow through on communications and decisions.
- Experienced working with international students and able to support their unique needs as they study in the US.
- Able to manage time effectively and prioritize needs and problems.
- Understand and be able to provide leadership in curriculum, including content, organization, and development for students receiving services
- Understand and have experience in the evaluation process of students for special education, including interpretation of IEP’s and 504 plans.
- Understand and be able to provide leadership to the instructional process
- Organized and able to carry out the major focus of the school – teaching children.
- Experience with Google Classroom and other Google docs used in schools, and able to support student learning through technology.
Responsibilities
The Dean of Students must be able to oversee certain operations at NCCS as assigned by the Administrator, including:
- Oversee assessment programs (AP, PSAT, AP, MAP), set up sessions/schedule, manage results/data, provide communication with all involved, and proctor as necessary.
- Support ESL students with academic matters, as needed.
- Monitor academic progress of students, support and communicate needs as they arise.
- Develop and manage Student Support Plans, serving as a liaison between the school and parents.
- Initiate conflict resolution and mediation involving students with appropriate follow up with parents and faculty.
- Oversee detention process, providing supervision for those involved.
- Any responsibilities, necessary and proper, as assigned by the Administrator for the well-being of the school.
