Lower School General Studies Teacher
CCJDS is a K-8 independent school with approximately 185 students, accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. We are seeking a Lower School Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year in General Studies, to include Language Arts, Social Studies, Math and Science. We would like a teacher who wants to engage in school life and culture. CCJDS offers small class sizes, teaching assistants, a supportive environment, true dedication to professional growth, and an innovative approach to learning. In addition to curriculum planning and whole-group/small group instruction, our teachers are expected to differentiate the curriculum and accommodate students with specific learning needs/strengths. Productive and frequent connections with parents including weekly parent newsletters, emails and phone calls with parents, mid and end of semester report card narratives, and collaboration with colleagues are also important expectations.
Desired Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution
- A teaching credential and/or master's degree
- Prior teaching experience (Candidates with school experience through teacher training programs will be considered.)
- Experience developing a differentiated, student-centered curriculum
- Experience using Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop, or a willingness to learn
- Experience with Eureka Math, or a willingness to learn
- Proven success and enthusiasm for working constructively with parents
- Experience creating a nurturing, mutually respectful environment both in the classroom and with colleagues and administrators
- Effective classroom management and organization skills
- Experience and success collaborating with other teachers in a team setting and embracing a culture of ongoing professional growth
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
