Founded in 1930, The Tatnall School is an independent, coeducational, college-preparatory day school situated on a pastoral, 110-acre campus in Greenville, Delaware, near Wilmington. Tatnall includes four academic divisions with 500 students from age 3 through grade 12. The Tatnall School is seeking a 3rd grade homeroom teacher who appreciates an active and collaborative learning environment and values the importance of building authentic relationships with students. Lower school teachers are responsible for meeting the academic needs and building on the interests and strengths of their students. A workshop model allows for small group lessons and individual student conferences to provide feedback and personalized instruction. A variety of informal and formal assessments are used to monitor learning and adjust pacing to meet students where they are. In addition to the core content areas, teachers provide engaging projects to promote opportunities for creativity, leadership, public speaking, responsibility, and independence.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Teaching reading, writing, word study, math, and social studies
- Building authentic relationships with students, families, and co-workers
- Using ongoing formative assessment to drive instruction and meet student needs
- Implementing a variety of assessment tools for students to apply their learning
- Integrating technology into the curriculum
- Committing to diversity, equity, and community through culturally responsive teaching practices
- Communicating with families regularly
- Collaborating with Lower School faculty regularly
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
Preferred experience but not required:
- Google Suite and Google Classroom
- Units of Study in Reading and Writing
