Position: Director of Annual Giving
Reports to: Sr. Associate Director of Development

Job Summary: The Director of Annual Giving is a motivated and goal-oriented individual who provides leadership, creativity and enthusiasm towards achieving the annual fundraising goals of Malvern Prep. Applies professional knowledge to develop, manage and implement programs designed to cultivate, solicit, steward, and maximize annual gifts in support of Malvern Prep’s ambitious aspirations through various annual appeals, The Malvern Fund, and EITC support. Collaborates closely with marketing and admissions to deliver an integrated and innovative approach to school advancement. Embraces Malvern’s mission and core values in all facets of the development process. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, it is essential that the candidate believes in the idea that we put team goals before our own, where we are “one team all in.”
Essential Duties:
- Implements innovative strategies to improve annual giving among parents, past parents, alumni and other supporters through annual giving (The Malvern Fund), Friar Club (athletics), EITC, and other fundraising vehicles.
- Manages all aspects of Malvern Prep’s annual fund process including segmentation of appeals, the annual appeal calendar, and the annual giving prospect pool, including direct mail, face-to-face, virtual, and electronic appeals.
- Manages the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, identifying prospective participating companies, soliciting participation, and maximizing the financial impact to Malvern Prep.
- Increases contributions and gifts by directly and personally engaging in active stewardship, cultivation and direct solicitation of annual fund donors.
- Forges strong relationships with alumni, parents, and other supporters to influence and maximize contributions.
- Creates and manages a program for annual fund volunteers to include alumni and current parents.
- Collaborates with Marketing and Communications to create development marketing materials, mailings and publications, to include print, digital, and social media appeals.
- Interacts and works directly with the Development team to increase participation for annual giving.
- Manages a portfolio of annual giving prospects capable of making annual gifts of $1,000 or more.
- Conducts 12-15 meaningful prospect/donor touchpoints each month.
- Collaborates closely with other development team members to identify and reduce duplication and inefficiencies.
- Assesses the quality and efficiency of the development process by keeping relevant reports and statistics on all aspects of the function.
- Continually evaluates and, where necessary, redesigns all aspects of the development process with the goal of maximizing gift contributions.
- Actively participates in committees that serve the goal of increasing contributions to annual giving; manages committee volunteers in fulfilling their roles.
- Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards, acting as a role model.
- Keeps up-to-date with innovative developments and trends in the development field through professional development. Makes the most of all opportunities to continue developing as a professional; acts to keep self professionally competent.
- Proactively acts as a community liaison and supports public relations and fundraising activities.
- Actively participates in various meetings, such as department, administration, school meetings, etc.
- Builds and maintains a professional rapport with a broad audience – alumni, donors, parents and all other staff.
- Directs, monitors, and stewards our EITC/OSTC program working closely with admission and the business office.
- Directs, manages, and completes our annual report working closely with DoD, marketing, and database manager.
Competencies Required:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; experience with Google Drive and Raiser’s Edge a plus
- Willing to utilize all communications vehicles including face to face, phone, letters, email and social media.
- Able to work independently and effectively with other team members.
- Good team player and very reliable in working without close supervision.
- Passionate about actively supporting the School’s mission.
