About The Siena School

The Siena School, Silver Spring, is seeking a full-time Music Teacher for the 2022-23 school year who is passionate about teaching and an advocate for children with learning differences.
Music is an integral component of the Siena curriculum, and the ideal candidate should be a skilled musician with aptitude in a range of instruments—ideally piano, guitar, drums, and voice—and demonstrate a wide array of musical interests and experiences. The successful applicant will enjoy working with other educators in a collaborative environment (such as by planning and executing performances) and provide student-centered learning experiences that are engaging and differentiated to meet the needs of students with language-based learning differences.
The Music Teacher will:
- Provide a range of musical opportunities to students across all divisions (elementary through high school;
- Run Choir and Band Clubs during the last period of the day (incorporated into schedule);
- Support the annual musical.
- Demonstrated career interest in education;
- Bachelor's degree with a strong academic track record and 2-5 years of classroom experience preferred;
- Strong language skills and a desire to make a difference for students whose intellect is ahead of their literacy skills;
- Promoting joyful student engagement and a commitment to the education of dyslexic students are essential;
- Training or classroom experience with elementary, middle, and high school students, differentiation, and/or students with learning differences/dyslexia.
