Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking assistant teachers for all content areas in the high school division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Help to plan curriculum, lessons and assignments/projects
- Develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and tools for students to become independent, college-bound learners
- Break down/scaffolding of in-class assignments and projects
- Grade student work and participation
- Track student’s work and progress
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of students
Qualifications
- BA or BS in education, social studies, science, English, math (liberal arts majors welcome)
- Classroom experience or experience building positive appropriate relationships with teens
- Knowledge of, or experience with learning disabilities
- Experience with smartboards, google drive, and technology in the classroom.
- Interest in becoming a head teacher and pursuing professional development in special education
- Possess patience, flexibility, and good organization skills
