Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a Head Civics/Economics Social Studies Teacher in the high school division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan curriculum, lessons, and assignments/projects that reflects a diversity of voices and points of view
- Collaborate with and mentor assistant teacher
- Develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and tools for students to become independent, college-bound learners
- Break down/scaffolding of in-class assignments and projects
- Grade student work and participation
- Track student’s work and progress
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of students
- Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Qualifications
- MA in the content area or education, and classroom experience teaching in high school
- Experience building positive appropriate relationships with teens
- Knowledge of, or experience with, learning disabilities
- Experience with smartboards, google drive, and technology in the classroom
- Possess patience, flexibility, and good organization skills
